This game has literally taken hours, days, months out of my life, and for a reason, it is a very good sandbox game.
Yes, it can be boring at times if you repeatedly play the singleplayer, but if you join a server, and play with friends, the game experience will improve so much, specially with minigames, and adventure maps, hunger games, parkour maps, and all other options. A must play game. And don't get thinking too low of this game because of the graphics, there are other aspects in a game to look forward to.

Minecraft has many qualities that helped it become a gaming phenomenon: ever-expanding environments to explore, the freedom to craft complex machines from simple parts, and devastating iron golems, just to name a few. But one of my favorite things about Minecraft is how easy it is to host your own server. With just a Windows computer, a decent internet connection (with a static IP), and a little know-how, anyone can create a private world for a few friends to share. Here’s how to get started.
The Minecraft Server application relies on Java, so begin by making sure you have the latest version of Java 7 installed (32-bit or 64-bit, depending on your Windows version). Once that’s done, download Minecraft_Server.exe from Minecraft.net and save it into a dedicated folder, like C:\MinecraftServer.

There are plenty of achievements to get as you go along, such as when you make a furnace, open your inventory for the first time or catch a fish. Eventually, you’ll learn to make fire and electricity. If you play a really long time, you might even find the elusive Ender Dragon.

The graphics in Minecraft are old school, a nod to the early days of video games. But that’s the glory of Minecraft. If it looked too realistic, like Gran Turismo or even The Sims, it wouldn’t have the signature style that makes this game unique.

you can create anything you wantIf you want to run the server on any other OS or without GUI it's a bit more involved (see this wiki article for a tutorial). First make sure you can use java from the command line. On Linux and Mac OS X this should already be set up but on Windows you might have to tinker with the PATH environment variable. Download and run minecraft_server.jar (621 KB) with java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar nogui.

Minecraft is awesome! This version comes with crafting an multiplayer. all you need is Java software. I bought the game before I found this site. Sure you can download it for free but you need to pay for it first before you can actually play it. Classic, on minecraft.net is free though.

Very nice update! Looking forward to the mod API because it will also mean that mods will no longer be broken with each and every future update the way they are now. Sometimes it’s quite a long wait for my favourites ones to be brought up to speed to match the current version of Minecraft.

Lego and Minecraft are a great pairing, and people have been building awesome Minecraft things out of the popular toy bricks for quite some time now - for example, the chicken (shown above), built to scale, entirely out of common bricks! It's a pretty cool model, to be sure, but what if you wanted to build your own?

"One of the biggest improvements is the redesigned crafting system that streamlines the item-creation process" Streamlines... *shivers* While I agree that the crafting system could use some improvement, this is the kind of praise that makes developers think that it's okay to over-simplify things *cough* EA *cough*

Wide choice!!! You can create huge structures and caves to play this game. It's a deceptively simple game of building and survival. Your world in Minecraft is randomly generated, and you appear in a land surrounded by water, with mountains, valleys, trees and animals. It's not clear what to do except explore to begin with, but as the sun sets monsters appear, who will kill you. Survival is impossible in the open, so you need to build a shelter to hide out in for the first night.
