Minecraft 1.4.3 PC patch already in works with a number of bug fixes

Mojang is already putting the new Minecraft online bug tracking application to work. One of the developers revealed a list of bugs on Monday already fixed for an upcoming patch to the recently released "Pretty Scary" update on the PC.

The Minecraft bug tracker was only launched last Wednesday but over 1,200 bug reports have been submitted so far at the time of this writing. Not all of the bugs are actually bugs but the ones that check out are being assigned to different members of the Mojang team to be squashed.

Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition Gets Another Massive Update

Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition has proven to be a hit beyond anybody’s expectations. The success is great, but it means that 4J Studios has to work extra hard to get out new updates to players wanting more out of their Minecraft experience. The developer pushed a major update last month, but they’re already about to push another major update in the coming weeks.

'Minecraft' for the PC and Mac surpasses a total of 8 million sales

Today, the hit game “Minecraft,” which is shown above, has reached an incredible milestone. Announced by Mojang earlier this morning, “Minecraft” for the PC and Mac platforms have surpassed a total of 8 million copies.

Minecraft Documentary Due in December

A Minecraft documentary is in development and it looks like it’ll be released for digital download and DVD early December. The documentary, called Minecraft: The Story of Mojang, is being created by 2 Player Productions and their director Paul Owens says the goal is to debut the feature length film Dec. 7, though the date isn’t set in stone.

But one of my favorite things about Minecraft is how easy it is to host your own server. With just a Windows computer, a decent internet connection (with a static IP), and a little know-how, anyone can create a private world for a few friends to share. Here’s how to get started.
The Minecraft Server application relies on Java, so begin by making sure you have the latest version of Java 7 installed (32-bit or 64-bit, depending on your Windows version). Once that’s done, download Minecraft_Server.exe from Minecraft.net and save it into a dedicated folder, like C:\MinecraftServer.

Eventually, you’ll learn to make fire and electricity. If you play a really long time, you might even find the elusive Ender Dragon.

The graphics in Minecraft are old school, a nod to the early days of video games. But that’s the glory of Minecraft. If it looked too realistic, like Gran Turismo or even The Sims, it wouldn’t have the signature style that makes this game unique.

you can create anything you wantIf you want to run the server on any other OS or without GUI it's a bit more involved (see this wiki article for a tutorial). First make sure you can use java from the command line. On Linux and Mac OS X this should already be set up but on Windows you might have to tinker with the PATH environment variable. Download and run minecraft_server.jar (621 KB) with java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar nogui.
