For a couple of weeks last year, I was getting unusually frequent advertisements for the Premium version. But I've been using their free version for 11 years, this was an unusual occurrence, and it didn't last. With a 1.6 GHz dual core, 3.6 GB of ram, and Windows XP, Ad-Aware uses the CPU heavily for about 5 minutes every time the computer is rebooted, or when Ad-Aware is disabled and re-enabled. Of course, XP doesn't need booting frequently, and disabling is never necessary. I like having it providing real-time protection. Who knows how effective it is. The scanner function is still available. I'm also running PC Tools Spyware Doctor and Avast Antivirus, both free versions.

its ok if you have the resources to run it. but for older computers this will take alot of recourses. free version keeps asking to suscribe to the primum version

Highly over-rated. Similar to AVG, this program was good about 3-5 years ago but since then they\\\'ve been depending on the name they built for themselves then and haven\\\'t really gotten any better, while the viruses and spyware out there has. Under-achieving.
