Four-language dictionary of 7,000 pharmaceutical terms based on original English publications in close orientation to European pharmacopeia and EMA, EU, ICH and GMP guidelines.
Sold over 8,000 times in book and CD form over the past 20 years, the Pharmaceutical Dictionary published by Editio Cantor Verlag has established itself a firm place as the standard dictionary of the pharmaceutical industry. The current edition contains 7,000 terms in four languages (English, German, French and Spanish) and is helpful for communication with international colleagues, reading specialized literature and translation work. Available in print and CD form so far, it now also come as an iPhone / iPad app that hyperlinks search terms to definitions and explanations in Wikipedia.
The Pharmaceutical Dictionary iPhone / iPad app is intuitive in use. On installation it downloads in seconds and then lists all terms in the four languages consecutively and in alphabetic order. Tapping on "Cancel" opens and closes the keyboard, and results appear as you begin to enter characters, meaning you don't need to finish typing to find what you need (assuming the term is contained in the dictionary). Partial searches are also possible and specification of language is not required. Tapping "i" leads to information on the dictionary's editors, publisher, sponsors, etc., while "Back" returns you to the previous menu item.
Search results are hyperlinked to Wikipedia definitions wherever possible, and if a term is not explained in Wikipedia or you are outside WiFi coverage, you are notified respectively. Using the app does not require an Internet connection or incur an additional charge.
Our thanks go to BASF, GEMÜ, medax and PDA for sponsoring the print and iPhone / iPad editions of Pharmaceutical Dictionary.
