Miles is a measure that over time has taken on different values (varying in length from 1 to 2 km) and meanings, used in several countries and historical periods.
From the nineteenth century onwards, these units have been abandoned in most countries, which have adopted the metric system: in this system, for length scales for which it was appropriate to use the miles, we use the km .
The use of the miles still survives in the Anglo-Saxon countries (including the U.S.) and in the sea and air navigation.
Hence the need for a useful tool for the conversion of miles to kilometers and vice versa.
